We at Knit 2 Together like to believe that the five events, which took place in Hawick, were a great success. There was a fantastic turnout each night, everybody seemed to get on well and enjoy themselves, and we ended up with a wonderful combined project at the end of it (look out for some photos, which will appear on this site soon).

However, it’s wonderful to see proof of how successful the events were… and what better proof than confirmation that the knitting circles are going to be continuing in Hawick, even now that the events are over.

The first knitting circle following on from our events was held at the Heritage Hub (Archive Manager Paul Brough kindly offered to host) on Wednesday the 29th of May. The Hub welcomed special guest speaker Kim Hutchison; an environmental scientist specialising in rivers/water but with a secondary interest in spinning and natural dyeing, who came along to give a talk.

It’s a wonderful thing for the community, and the women involved, and we’re so pleased that the circles are continuing. Sylvia Dow was able to attend on the 29th, and it was, in her own words, “an interesting and hilarious evening”.

The next knitting night is scheduled for Wednesday the 3rd of July, this time at the Borders Textile Towerhouse. Confirmation of the evening will be posed to this site, and our Facebook and Twitter pages @Knit_2_Together, nearer to the time.
